About US

Pets Association of Maldives (PAM – registry no. T/2010/65/34) was legally registered on 09th June 2010 under 1/2003 of the Maldivian constitution (with relations to laws for association). The sole agenda for such an organisation to exist was to create an environment where all animals (both locally found and imported) receive the right/ correct treatment. Basically the association is dedicated to the well being and protection of all wild life (including plant life) in the Maldives.

Objective:
To create awareness and build proper understanding of how animals should be kept as pets with accordance to the laws and regulations of the Maldives.

Ongoing Projects
  • Advocacy Campaign of PAM on Facebook (FB Group)
  • Launching of official website ( 13-08-2010 ).
  • Create working relationships with relevant ministries and other government offices for the smooth running of the association.
  • Obtaining possible sponsorship and assistance to promote PAM (in means of kind, funds etc…)
Future planned projects
  • First general meeting (planned for October 2010).
  • Elections of PAM’s steering committee (planned for October 2010).
  • Pet awareness sessions with guest lecturers (international/local).
  • Working closely with government in ensuring proper laws are in place with regards to import and export of animals and plants.
  • Working closely with government in ensuring proper laws are in place in the case of a health outbreak.
  • Vetenary consultation programmes (with guest Vets from Srilanka and India).
  • Registration of Pets.
  • Opening branches of PAM in other atolls.
  • Pet rescue and care programmes
